The CAM software of a CNC machine—like a ShopBot, CNC Master, and other kinds of CNC machines—is essential in building your own custom machined parts. In previous releases of AutoCAD, CAM was run locally in a PC or Windows-based computer, using a program that you ran from within AutoCAD.
The new release has some big changes.
First, you can now connect your CAM software to the cloud. It’s no longer necessary to have the CAM software installed on your local computer. Instead, you can use the connected CAM software to create the cutting geometry and produce 2D & 3D cross-sections of your parts. It’s like you’re at the machine, but you can still make changes on the computer and send them back to the cloud.
Next, you can download the CAM software onto your own machine and use it directly. Rather than creating the part from scratch in the CAM software on your computer, you can immediately use the part you already created on the cloud. You can make changes, send back to the cloud, and have your drawing updated in real time.
